Use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content. Alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is an acceptable alternative when soap and water are not available. Waiting is impractical in patient care. Wiping on cloth is ineffective. Gloves alone do not eliminate the need for hand hygiene.
